On Saturday, April 13, we held a funeral service for our dear brother Charles Ramsey. It was a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man.
We journeyed with Jesus on his final walk in this dramatic service which included walking along the 14 stations of the cross.
We had powerful and moving worship, including a foot washing service to serve as Christ served his disciples. It was a time of great love during this Holy Week.
On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Rev. Creamilda Yoda attended the Diocesan Renewal of Vows Service at Washington Cathedral. Laity, Deacons, Priests and Bishops all renewed their vows of ministry during this powerful service. Also attending was the Senior Warden, Gail Russell.
Good food and good fun was had by everyone at our first Spaghetti Dinner of 2024. Don’t miss the next one on May 11!
Rev. Yoda’s birthday was a few days away, but she was surprised by a birthday cake and a rendition of “Happy Birthday” by the congregation at coffee hour!
A generous gift of African Kente Cloth hangings for the Altar, Pulpit and Lectern, and a stole for the Priest-in-Charge, were donated by Sewing Ministry member Rosemary Greenaway and used for the first time. What a blessing to our church!
A wonderful sewing ministry member, Rosemary Greenaway, donated an inspiring quilt with quotations from Harriet Tubman, Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks, and Mary McLeod Bethune. It was raffled off and Holly Harding was the lucky winner!
Our vestry was duly commissioned for its work in the upcoming year: Gail Russell – Sr. Warden, Jim Carr – Jr. Warden, Virginia Lindsey – Registrar, Bob Lau and Bill Hicks – Treasurers, Jean Henry, Don Appold, Luan George, Marvise Middleton, and Judy Williams – Vestry Members.
Also commissioned were the Voting Delegate, Gail Russell and the Alternate Delegate, Joann Appold for the Diocesan Convention, 2025.
Christ Church was ably represented by Rev. Creamilda Yoda – Priest-in-Charge, Gail Russell – Sr. Warden, and Joann Appold – Voting Delegate. It was a long but rewarding day.
