The Episcopal Diocese of Washington held its annual convention on January 31, 2026. Present from Christ Church were Gail Russell, delegate, and Marvise Middleton, alternate delegate. Also present was Rosemary Greenaway, staffing the Christ Church Sewing Ministry Booth at he Ministry Fair/Exhibit. Our Rector, The Rev. Creamilda Yoda, was in attendance virtually.
Our sanctuary was looking its best for this special day. First came our beautiful concert at 1:30 pm, including our children – praising the newborn king. Then we had our wonderful service of celebration.
We began the fourth Sunday in Advent with an inspirational service of Lessons and Carols. Then we moved to the parish hall for some fun decorating cookies. What a great day!
As we began a new liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent, we also celebrated the Feast of St. Andrew on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025. The Feast of St. Andrew is on November 30, but this year, 2025, it was transferred to December 1. Our chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew shared some information about St. Andrew and the Brotherhood.
Our Christ Church Family gathered to give thanks together for all the blessings we have had in 2025. It was a phenomenal feast and a great time of fun and fellowship. Our Phebe Chapter of the Daughters of the King wore their colors of blue and white to celebrate.
On Sunday, November 16, 2025 we had our final Jazz Concert of teh 2025 season featuring Anita King & Friends. Ms. King was our very first performer and had been a favorite ever since. We also held a silent auction during the concert. It was an evening filled with great music, food and fun.
On Sunday, November 16, 2025, the Orrison Family members Christopher, Kimberly, Dallas and Addyson received bibles from Christ Church and had their first communion as confirmed members of the Episcopal Church.
Saturday, November 15, 2025 was an exciting day as four of our members, Christopher, Kimberly, Dallas and Addyson Orrison were confirmed at the Washington National Cathedral by our bishop, The Right Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde. Also present were our Rector, The Rev. Creamilda Yoda, Verger Quentin Banks, and Banner Bearer Gail Russell
We honored all veterans on this day, but especially those in our church family. We thank all those who have been in any branch of the armed forces for their service.
Our final spaghetti dinner of 2025 was enjoyed by all. Many folks were already asking about next year, 2026, and yes – we will be back!
